Screens are inevitable. They are where our kids learn, play, and socialize. But 'Green Time'—time spent outdoors in nature—is critical for mental and physical health.

The Problem: Nature Deficit Disorder

Richard Louv coined this term to describe the human costs of alienation from nature: diminished use of the senses, attention difficulties, and higher rates of physical and emotional illnesses.

The Solution: A Balanced Diet

We don't need to ban screens. We need to balance them.

1. The 1:1 Rule

For every hour of recreational screen time, require one hour of outdoor play.

2. Tech-Free Zones

Designate areas (like the dining table) or times (like Sunday mornings) as strictly tech-free.

3. Digitally Enhanced Nature

Use apps to engage with nature, not escape it.
    1. Plant Identification apps: Go on a hike and identify flowers.
    2. Star Gazing apps: Learn constellations at night.

4. Lead by Example

If you are on your phone at the park, your child will notice. Put your phone away and play with them.

    3. Boosts immunity through Vitamin D and fresh air.
